For my third weekend in Yangshuo, I had the chance to participate in a two-days visit of the rice terraces of Longji organized by the school.
Yangshuo, the city in which I had classes, is located on the south of Guilin, the big city of which it depends, while the rice terraces are on the north of Guilin.
Therefore, we had to take a bus for a trip for 3 and a half hours and another bus in the protected area for one hour, before walking 30 minutes in the mountains to reach our hotel. It was a rather long trip, but it definitely was worth it!
It is said that it was the best period to see the rice terraces, because they take a gold color. Earlier in the year, the fields would have been green, a few weeks later, everything would have been cut.
We wandered around the fields in the afternoon, and the next day we woke up at 5:30 in order to watch the sunrise on the terraces. It was truly a magical experience.
