South Kyoto
As in North Kyoto, South Kyoto has many temples of all kinds.
The Ginkaku-ji, or silver pavilion, was supposed like the Golden Pavilion to be entirely covered with silver. However, due to the death of his mescene, it remained wooden.
One of the most emblematic temples of Kyoto is the Fushimi Inari and its rows of doors.
In the south of Kyoto, you can also find the old city and its wooden houses, which is also the district of the Geisha’s houses.
It is also in this district, at the Gion Corner, that we had the opportunity to see a show presenting different Japanese arts: Tea ceremony, Floral art, Koto, Gagaku music, Kyogen theater, Kyo-mai dance and Bunraku Puppet Theater.
Finally, we discovered the bar “L’escamoteur”, run by a former French magician, which spices up their cocktails!
