To get to Chengdu, I took a train between Guilin and Chengdu. Unfortunately, I did not expected to be leaving Guilin during the Golden Week (a week-long vacation for all Chinese people) and the train was packed with no available seats for 6 hours. Hopefully, I had planned this problem by buying a folding chair on Taobao (Chinese equivalent of Amazon) before leaving!
Chengdu, a city of 14 million people, is the capital of the Sichuan Province in China, a province renowned for its very spicy dishes. Despite a rather gloomy weather, I enjoyed spending time in the city.
The peculiarity of this city is that it hosts a research center on giant pandas that attracts visitors from all around the world. If you arrive early in the morning (as I did), you can see them at their most active because it is meal time.
