Ayutthaya – 02/15/2020 to 02/18/2020

The last part of our trip to Thailand was Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya was the capital of the Kingdom of Siam until 1767 when it was razed by the Burmese.

The ruins of the ancient city are now the historic heart of Ayutthaya. On our first day, we took a boat trip that lead us to different temples along the river.

Indeed, the city is famous for its many ancient temples (there are more than 300 in the city).

We also rented a scooter to go visit the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace. This palace contains several buildings of various architectural inspirations (Thai, neo-classical, Chinese…).

One of the best-known temples in Ayutthaya is the Wat Mahathat, where a Buddha’s head is trapped in the roots of a tree.

After our last day in Ayutthaya, we took the train back to Bangkok to catch our plane to France. And that’s how our trip to Asia ended!
