Tokyo (4/5) – Chiyoda & Odaiba districts – 10/10/2019 to 10/22/2019

Today, we will present Chiyoda and Odaiba districts.

Chiyoda district

The Chiyoda district is located in the center of Tokyo. This is where the imperial palace is.

If it is possible to visit part of the imperial palace but only with prior reservation (which we did not anticipate), we were however able to visit the palace’s two gardens, Higashi-Gyoen (East garden) and Kokyo-Gaien (Outside garden).

In this area, there are also many museums, such as the Science Museum, the National Museum Showa (which explains the WW2 story) or the Museum of Modern Art.

We also visited the Shinto Shrine Yasukuni-jinja, where an unexpected event was being prepared.

Odaiba district

The district of Odaiba is actually an artificial island, very focused on new technologies and amusement centers (we even had the opportunity to see an outdoor concert of Japanese idols!).

There is the very famous Miraikan Museum, known for its giant planet and its robots (especially the ASIMO robot show).

Odaiba Island also features a dedicated Toyota Car Brand Center, which traces Toyota’s history in both mass-market and racing cars, and provides insight into future advances in the automotive industry.
