In this second article about Tokyo, we will introduce the districts of Asakusa and Akihabara.
Akihabara district
Akihabara is the “geek” district of Tokyo. Between its manga stores, figurines, retro games, maid cafes, arcades filled with games of all kinds, everyone can find something for themselves.
At night, the district sparkles because of all its neon facades.
A small disappointment was that people can smoke in arcade centers, which can leave an unpleasant smell on clothes. This is one of the peculiarities of Japan: there are more smoking areas indoors than outdoors, since smoking is prohibited in the street (except in dedicated spaces).
Asakusa district
Asakusa is a more traditional district, especially known for its temple. It is also full of small shopping streets.
Not far from there is the Tokyo Sky Tree, a broadcasting tower. Being 634 meters high, it is one of the tallest tower in the world.
It is possible to climb it in order to see a breathtaking view of Tokyo. We chose to go in the late afternoon to enjoy the light of day but also see the lights of the night.
